The flip side...
Sorry that this picture is so pathetic, but this is the other side of the living room:
My apologies for the mess on the ground. These pictures were taken when I was looking to purchase the house, so they are not updated.
As you can see, there is a "stage" for my bi-weekly performances of whatever-strikes-my-fancy. If you would like to come over and perform at some time, just let me know. I'll make sure you get a space on the schedule.
Also, make sure to check out Robert's Blog to see his renderings of my living room with new flooring and wall colors! He did an amazing job! Send him some comment-love to show your appreciation for his great humor and photo-editing skills!

Can I get one of those pictures of you? please???
...your such an exhibitionist.
And I'm not doing that side of the room. That would mean that I have to virtually clean up all that crap. Plus, stairs are impossible! BTW: that is actually my hardwood floor. You will have to go dark with lots (3+ coats) of poly, because pine may look yellow in a light stain. ...and its really soft.
I actually like the green walls from Robert's post! And you should definitely blow up a large photo of yourself for the mantle-- that would be SO Zoolander!! :-)
AND I LOVE the stage!!! Awesome!!! Poetry readings? Monologues? Karaoke?????????? I'll have to brush up on my rendition of "Dancing Queen"-- we could even re-enact some of the Canterbury Tales skits from 11th grade English---- "Alack, alack, alack!"
Don't you know that you pick your wall color from fabric (window treatments or pillows) that will be used in the room? Were you not around when my brother was on Trading Spaces? Gosh!!
Eggplant (deep, darkest eggplant) on the bookshelf wall.....then some family of medium tan/beige which plays off the floor for the side walls.
If you could figure out a way to make that disco ball retract back into the ceiling i might be willing to think it's not a half bad idea...
oh...and then...when you do choose the window dressings...you'll want to accent the deep eggplant with a sage green as well as many variations of the tan/beige/brown family....
I am all for reenacting Canturbury Tales, Jennifer! Or perhaps Shakespheare? But only if Emery does choose to grow that goatee...
Such evenings call for plenty of wine and cheese plates...
A faux finish in oranges and yellows (Italian looking). Antique look. And I mean a real faux finish, not any of that sponge painting crap! (Like the stuff we have in our bathroom and laundry room, GAG!)
S'up yo.
